Therapeutic Yoga
Therapeutic Yoga is a quiet form of practice that promotes slowness and stillness.
Less is more.
Therapeutic Yoga combines restorative poses (supported postures), gentle movements, breathing exercises, guided meditation and hands-on healing. The practice uses yoga props to support the body in postures that are modified for your complete comfort, enabling you to relieve the tension held in your body and mind.
Each position is held for several minutes. By bringing the body into stillness, you learn about letting go. Your body can loosen up, your muscles can relax, and your mind and nervous system can become calmer, enabling you to experience balance and harmony.
I have felt energized, rejuvenated and even optimistic with this type of passive stretching when I simply let gravity do the work and let go of the urge of “always-doing.”
This form of yoga can benefit everyone, especially those who suffer from burnout, fatigue and anxiety, such as caregivers, parents and those who work in stressful jobs.
You don’t have to be flexible to get into the poses. It’s suitable for people with all levels of fitness and is practiced in a non-competitive, non-judgmental environment.
I hold regular Therapeutic Yoga classes. See events here. You can also find my events on Facebook @StephanieWongCoach.
