Lessons Businessman Shaun Rein Learned As a Dad

I interviewed China-based businessman Shaun Rein

While Shaun talks a lot about business on media outlets like CNN and BBC, you will see a different side of him here because our conversation was about parenting!

This is my first in a series of interviews on the topic of parenting.

His recent Linkedin post about his son's entrepreneurial efforts caught my attention and that's what led to our conversation.

Shaun, a father of a 14-year-old son, is the founder of Shanghai-based China Market Research Group (CMR), a strategic consultancy whose clients include Richemont, Apple and KFC.

He has written four books, including "The War for China's Wallet: Profiting from the New World Order," "The End of Cheap China" and "The End of Copycat China."

In our conversation, Shaun talked about:

🍀 The mistakes he's made as a father and the lessons he's learned.

🍀 His struggles in parenthood and his views on parenting.

🍀 How he has been guiding his son who was called "the most difficult student I’ve ever had” by his teacher.

🍀 His journey in supporting his son to experiment with building drones and speakers and the process that eventually helped him land his first corporate order for his speaker, Bass Bean Plus.

🍀 His approach in guiding his son through failings.

🍀 The way he structures his business and his day for him and his family.

🍀 His priorities in life.

🍀 The importance of having a health and wellness routine as a parent.

🍀 His fifth book!
