How to Be a Happier Parent


Six-week 5Cs Parent Coaching Program in September

This is a new online coaching program for stressed-out parents who feel overwhelmed, anxious, exhausted, depleted or guilt.

You may feel like you are not doing a good enough job as a parent or worried about transferring your emotional baggage to your children.

This program is about self-understanding, self-compassion and self-care. It is also about your happiness.


The course is based on the 5Cs — the philosophy and principles that I value and strongly believe in parenting.

Consciousness — Be conscious with your thoughts and bodily sensations. All thoughts lead to actions. Your body informs you of your emotions and feelings. Being conscious of them helps you deepen connections with yourself and your children. 

Connectedness — Connecting with yourself will naturally lead to closer bond with your children. This provides the much-needed emotional safety for them to thrive.

Compassion — Cultivating compassion for yourself leads to more compassion towards your children. That helps you become a happier parent and help your children open up to you.

Curiosity — Being curious with your own internal world and body will naturally prompt you to look deeper than what you see in your children's behaviors. You will be able to be less judgemental and gain cooperation from them without yelling.

Calmness — Cultivating genuine calmness and inner peace by letting out your stress, frustrations, anger and other strong feelings off your body. When you are able to regulate your own emotions, you can co-regulate with your children during the moments of distress.

This program will include lecture, written exercises, 1-on-1 coaching opportunities as well as group discussions and sharing.


Why is self-understanding, self-compassion and self-care important in parenting?

You have probably heard of the saying: You Are What You Eat.

In parenting, Your Children Are Who You Are Being.

Many of your actions, decisions and choices are operating under your conscious awareness.

By understanding yourself, you will see how your thoughts and your past experiences (including childhood experiences) have a strong influence on your actions. That, in turn, affects your interactions and your relationships with your children.

When you are compassionate towards yourself, you will naturally be a more active listener, more nurturing and kinder towards your children despite how they behave. When your children feel seen, heard and appreciated, they would want to hear what you want to say.

When you take care of yourself, you have more energy and experience more positivity.

With all that, both you and children can grow and thrive together.

The program will be held on Zoom and run every Saturday from Sept. 10—Oct. 15, 2022 at 9am Pacific Time in the U.S. Check your timezone here.

The first session will be 90-minute long for attendees to bond. The remaining ones will last for an hour.
