There's No Luck Without Action
Living in the coronavirus pandemic is hard. It means refraining from connecting with the others physically, or only connecting with others outside at a safe distance. For many people, especially during the winter time, it means spending much more time indoors.
My friends who live in the cold north tell me how lucky we are to be able to enjoy the sunshine and spend time outdoors where we live in Southern California.
It is true that I feel grateful that it’s sunny here all the time. I do feel lucky to be here.
But wait. What luck?
There would have been no luck if I hadn’t taken taking the action of moving here after leaving my long-time career.
Sometimes we forgot what we have achieved, the steps we have taken to get to where we are, the efforts we made and the courage it takes to move toward our goals before we get to a “lucky” place.
For working parents, you have a lot on your plate during the pandemic. You may be homeschooling your children and trying to keep them entertained, while also working a full-time job.
Next time you minimize your accomplishments, think about this: You wouldn’t have gotten where you are today with your work and family, without taking some kind of action.
Write down your accomplishments and your actions. Create a list. Post them everywhere visible in your home.
The next time you doubt if you have what it takes to reach certain goals or achieve certain things, look at the list and recognize all that you have already achieved. It’s not just about what you’ve done, it’s also about the mindset that helped you reach those accomplishments.
You don’t always have to rely on your friends and family to be your cheerleaders. You can be your own cheerleader, too.
More compassion, more recognition of your efforts, more love for yourself. ❤️
